GoCognitive
web design/development
GoCognitive is an educational resource hub for learning about cognitive psychology. It is used by students, instructors, researchers, and people generally interested in the subject of neuroscience. The website was originally developed in 2008, and is maintained by professors and graduate students at the University of Idaho.
I was approached by GoCognitive to re-design and implement the site. The newest version I created was launched in January of 2012. The redesign was based off of an established vintage style, but also keeps the information clean and organized. The website runs on Drupal 7 for specific functionality purposes which I also implemented through the re-design. Through Drupal, GoCognitive is able to manage categorized libraries of information that users can filter. Last, the re-design also included a responsive layout that can adapt to mobile devices.
The site is currently under further development as we work towards launching quizzing and social community functions.

Great Shape! Inc.
web design/identity
Great Shape! (GS!) is a nonprofit organization that provides various types of humanitarian aid to children and families in Jamaica. I began working with GS! through an internship with Let it Shine Media. Upon my senior year, I chose to re-brand the organization and re-design their website for my final BFA project.
The goal of the re-branding is to focus the organization’s message of ‘service in action’ into a visual representation without losing some of their already established visual marks. The brand and website design, overall, have been directed to evoke a fun, passionate, and personal feeling to their audience. I used combination of light-hearted graphics and cheerful imagery to achieve this idea.
The project is currently wrapping up in the design phase and will be implemented on a WordPress platform using the latest web technologies.

Blot Paper Towels
Student Work/Design Concept
Blot was a project for the Graphic Design Concepts class. The goal was to come up with a brand and a product to represent it based off of a chosen proverb. In this case the proverb was “every path has its puddle”.
EEP!
student work/event collateral
The task for this project was to create an event and design the material needed to advertise and provide information for it. These invitations were designed for the wedding of Stephanie and Austin Knight. Some of the applications for this project included the design of the invitation, envelope, a button for a keepsake, and a website (not featured). The invitation is a tri-fold; the inside tab is perforated allowing guests to tear off the RSVP information that directs them to the website for future use.
Rendezvous in the Park
Student Work/Design Concept
Rendezvous in the Park is an annual music festival in Moscow, ID showcasing some of the nation’s best musicians and the town’s local favorites. The organization promotes the event through various media including, but not limited to: posters, buttons, T-shirts, newspapers, Facebook, and other avenues. Each year the Rendezvous board members give students from the University of Idaho graphic design program the opportunity to produce the year’s promotional materials for the event. Each year’s theme is designed and created in accordance to a theme of the designer’s choice.
Personal Calendar
Student Work/Design Concept
This was another class project that examined the creation of calendars. The full size calendar is 16.25″ x 3.75″ and would lie on a flat surface such as an office desk.

Re-Bound
Student Collaboration Work/Design Concept
We were approached by the University of Idaho’s Sustainability Center to help improve the recycling rate on the campus up to 40%. The center had been awarded a grant to help with this issue, and was looking for a solution to their limiting factor of recycling behavior. The limiting factor was that roughly 80% of people on campus were not aware or else did not think the current system was easy enough to use. The largest waste products included paper, E-waste, and compost (food waste, and garbage). Our solution was to get students involved with recycling by creating a fun and rewarding system. By making a game out of recycling waste, we believe it would encourage a positive recycling trend. Participants received punch cards that counted towards free items such as T-shirts. We also thought creating an app that students could download and play any time and anywhere would further reinforce our approach to the issue.

Student Work/Infographic
The goal for this project was to create an infographic based off of a naturally occurring phenomenon. I chose to examine gender communications and how they effect male/female interaction. For this graphic I used information from Suite101.com. Feel free to post this anywhere you like using the codes below.
